Limited Edition Prints

  • Extending from long term investigations of land, art and materiality; these paint(ings) are purely paint. Thoughtfully handled and presented in hand crafted frames. Each is a referent to land(scape) and its individuated components of land, sky and horizon; each a specific field of experience, seen as complex and folded in its formal and conceptual nature.

  • These works are purely latex paint and do not rely on a canvas support. Prior to their release, the archival qualities of the paint as a support and surface were assessed for durability and preservation by way of 10+ years of testing and storage.

Each is compression mounted in a custom crafted wood frame and can be recess mounted into a wall if desired to increase the effect of the work.

  • The process for attaining thin sheets of pure paint began over 15 years ago while working on land based sculptural components. Over the course of those years the methods have been refined and the outputs … those material sheets, have been rigorously tested to find their limits and capacity for longevity and preservation. Once their archival qualities had been determined the process of constructing the pieces you see here began. These works offer 20+ years of careful consideration and will continue to develop over the years.

  • These ceramic vessels and forms are all individually handcrafted. The newest objects can be found here and are released seasonally for purchase online. All other ceramic products can be found during alternative studio openings and events.

  • Each clay body is carefully considered and selected for its ability to withstand the demands of a daily practice that cycles raw clays between sculpture and functional work.

White, brown and red stoneware are central to the ongoing creation of ceramic landscape components seen when browsing this studio. These clay bodies offer a strong material foundation that links these objects directly to surrounding northeastern geologies.

  • These objects are fired on-site in a handbuilt kiln that delivers a hybrid style of firing; wood and pit. Each piece achieves a final temp of 1835dg or greater and the finish effects from smoke and vapor are conserved within the clay body. Museum quality finishing wax is applied for long term preservation and protection.

  • Building clay components for landscapes and sculptures always results in leftovers. Cutoffs and other clay parts that get discarded into various piles for later use. In this case those leftovers go through a process of constant recycling until they finally arrive at their ceramic state as objects and artifacts of the studio process. These forms carry on a lineage to other works encountered here by way of this material history and memory.
