…. handcrafted forms to accent your spaces.

  • Stoneware clays are central to the ongoing creation of ceramic landscape components seen when browsing this studio. These bodies offer a strong, often textured base that links these objects directly to surrounding northeastern geologies.

Smoother versions are taken to their limit using custom techniques, studio tools and systems to facilitate construction. The result is the ability to create highly thin surfaces and bring them to firing with minimal loss of material.

  • A custom built kiln provides the opportunity for experimentation with firing techniques and the atmospheric effects taken on by the work. These forms are fired using a hybrid wood/pit firing technique that encourages the production of these desired surfaces.

  • Each piece is carefully cleaned and prepared for accepting finish treatment after firing. Archival museum wax is used to further enhance and protect the surface for future handling.

  • These forms are produced as individual objects. Each requires careful attention throughout the construction process. They are categorized by way of their form and each is given a unique name that includes a “born on” date and number to further identify it in the broader spectrum of work.
