A NOTE FROM THE SHOP
Sharing functional work… has always played some role in my life. Over the years I have come to know these objects as things I enjoy making and seeing shared with others; smaller things, functional things that help support bigger projects and broader goals.
I am currently focused on mugs and a handful of other vessels and forms that lend themselves to this idea. Supporting larger projects starts here with functional, timeless objects that can be used everyday and enjoyed for their craft and connection to my broader work.
These wares are all developed within a specific palette of native and commercial clays. They are glazed with custom hand-mixed glazes, and fired using manual methods in small batches for occasional release. The material remnants of their making are cycled and repurposed into sculptural clay works; those same clays are often then recycled back into base clays for new vessels. This process is core to my studio practice and ensures that every piece is linked to other ongoing projects via a lineage of physical and material processes. Developing material memory and richness.
I hope you enjoy what you find…
